Cattaneo needs little introduction. Now firmly established as the Progressive House scene's leading light, it is his wonderfully crafted DJ sets, exploring many genres, that have continued to enthrall his ever growing legion of fans. Whether accompanying the sunrises on South American beaches, or rocking the festival arena's across Europe, Cattaneo's skills are always in constant demand.

Fellow Argentinian producers Oliverio & Baunder make up Soundexile. Rapidly making waves, not only for their DJ sets but also for their fantastic productions. Their releases and remixes on labels including, Urbantorque, Plastik Park and Off Side Recordings have already won them support from heavyweights including Laurent Garnier, Sasha and Guy J.

Today's release see's the guys teaming up again to rework four of their own tracks that recently featured on Hernan's Renaissance 'Masters Series' compilation. Weaving euphoric and atmospheric elements together with delightfully uplifting melodies and driving techie beats, the guys turn in a complete package that should not be missed. 'Sonification', 'Butterfly Effect', 'Modflow' and 'Pastida' all feature, and get the fresh treatments.

Urban Torque has steadily built up a solid reputation as one of the UK’s finest electronic labels, garnering support from many of the world’s top DJs along the way. They’ve done it without fuss, without hype, and through an impressive catalogue of fantastic music. ‘Volume One’ is the first mix album from the label, and it unassumingly demonstrates the depth of quality now on Urban Torque.
Rather than simply cramming-in big tracks hammer and tong, the album’s artfully mixed by Label Manager, Leigh Morgan. There are some classics from the last few years in the shape of An-2’s down-tempo remix of François DuBois’ ‘I Try’ and the hypnotic ‘Nice & Easy’ by Sergio Muñoz; some recent hits such as Manuel Tur’s remix of Milton Jackson & Sei A’s ‘Jinzou’; and a good dashing of exclusive yet-to-be-released material. Looking down the track list you’ll see a few names you recognize, like long-time Urban Torque supporter Hernán Cattáneo, but there’s also lots of new talent gracing the mix, reflecting the label’s commitment to developing exciting young artists.
The album’s a carefully steered journey clicking through the gears. Launching from a laidback opening which includes the beautifully melancholic ‘Love is Morphine’ (Oliverio Remix) from Soundexile, it rises to the feel-good euphoria of Shur-I-Kan’s sublime ‘Gripper’ and Scope’s emphatic ‘That Deep Track’, then moves through to the heavy electro-tech of Office Gossip’s ‘Time Against Me.’
‘Volume One’ is an aural assault of electronic warmth, grace and beauty. It displays the strength of Urban Torque’s output, and it showcases talented new producers. With its rousing mix of depth and groove, melody and rhythm, it’s an album that reminds us just how good house music can sound.
